Accepting these terms

This site is operated by PDF Tools (thulem.com). "We" and "us" in these terms mean PDF Tools (thulem.com); "you" means anyone using the site.

By using this site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site. Nothing here asks you to register, so this agreement begins and ends with your use of the pages.

What the service is

This site provides free document utilities that run inside your web browser. We serve you a page; your own browser does the work, on your own device. We do not receive, store, or process your documents at any point.

That also means we cannot recover a file for you, resend a result, or look at a document to help you debug it. There is nothing on our side to look at.

Your documents and your rights

Your documents remain entirely yours. We claim no rights over them and never come into possession of them.

You are responsible for having the right to use the files you process here: that you own them or have permission to modify them, and that using them breaks no law or agreement you are bound by.

Acceptable use

When using this site, please do not:

• Use it to process material you have no legal right to process.
• Attempt to break, overload, probe, or gain unauthorised access to the site or the systems that serve it.
• Copy the site and present it as your own service, or resell access to it.
• Automate access in a way that degrades the service for other people.

No warranty

The site and its tools are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not promise that a tool will be available at a given moment, that it will handle every possible document, or that a result will be free of defects.

PDFs vary enormously in how they are constructed, and some will not survive processing unchanged. Keep your original files until you have opened the result and confirmed it is what you needed.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss of data, loss of profit, business interruption, or any indirect or consequential damage arising from your use of this site, whether a tool worked as intended or not.

Because the tools run on your own device and are provided free of charge, you use them at your own risk, and keeping backups of your files is your responsibility.

Intellectual property

The design, text, and original code of this site belong to us. The site is also built on open-source software, which remains the property of its authors and is used under its own licence terms.

You may link to any page here freely. You may not copy the site's content wholesale in order to republish it elsewhere.

Advertising

We intend to display third-party advertising on this site in future. Advertisements would be supplied by an advertising network, and are neither reviewed nor endorsed by us. Any dealing you have with an advertiser is between you and that advertiser.

Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of them or out of your use of this site, are governed by the law of mainland China, and the courts of mainland China have exclusive jurisdiction over them.

If you use the site from somewhere else, you do so on your own initiative and remain responsible for complying with your own local law. Nothing in this section removes any protection that the mandatory consumer law of your country of residence gives you.

Severability and waiver

If any provision of these terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision is severed and the remainder continues in force unchanged, interpreted as closely as possible to the original intent.

If we do not enforce a provision on some occasion, that is not a waiver of it and does not stop us relying on it later.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the site develops. The date at the top of the page shows when the current version took effect, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
